Mark 11:12-14
Mark 11:20-23
Romans 10:8-10

What is the difference between faith and hope?

  • Hope is desire and optimism. It has no basis for certainty
  • Faith is assurance and conviction. It is based on evidence
  • Faith that is based on zero evidence is called blind faith which is also the same as empty hope or gambling.
  • Hebrews 11:1

Why does God tell you not to swear (take an oath), yet He swears by Himself?

  • Man is fallible. There are some circumstances beyond your control, irrespective of your best intentions.
  • God is infallible. He only says what He means and is capable of performing (bringing into reality), Hebrews 6:13-20
  • Do not swear (take an oath) so you don’t open a door to the devil. Let your YES simply be yes, and your No simply be no.
  • Matthew 5:33-35, James 5:12

What is the difference between human faith and the God-kind of faith?

  • Human faith (trusting) is based on physical evidence (the 5 physical senses of sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste)
  • Human faith is based on previous experience
  • The God-kind of faith (trusting) is based on spiritual evidence (the Word and the Spirit)
  • The God-kind of faith is based on a revelation of what God has said.
  • The God-kind faith is not blind faith because God is infallible.
  • When God says something and you ‘hear and believe’ it in your heart (spirit), you can hang your life on it.
  • Hebrews 11:3, John 1:1-3, Romans 10:17

How can you get revelation from God’s Word?

  • You need to meditate on it, Joshua 1:8
  • Meditation is paying attention repeatedly!
  • Meditation involves confessing the Word out with your mouth regularly
  • Meditation is enhanced by fellowship!
  • Regular attendance at church service and home fellowship (Bible Study) will increase your revelation of God and His Word
  • Non-attendance at church meetings will reduce your revelation of God
  • Faith comes by ‘hearing and hearing’ the Word, Romans 10:17
  • Faith can grow or diminish depending on the level of your exposure to the Word. If you disengage from meditation and fellowship (i.e. stop feeding), your faith (i.e. strength) must diminish.

What are the elements of the God-kind of Faith?

  • It speaks and commands the negative situation to change
  • It speaks to the specific mountain (obstacle or oppression)
  • It does not doubt in the heart (it resists doubt in the head by confessing the Word (the Truth) rather than confessing the facts)
  • It believes in the heart (spiritual conviction), not just only in the head (mental agreement)
  • It believes and holds fast to what it is saying
  • It believes that what is being said will happen
  • It continues speaking the Word until it becomes a physical reality
  • Mark 11:20-23, Romans 10:8-10
