What is the difference between the operations of the Shield and the Sword?

  • The shield helps you to defend/maintain current ground
  • The sword helps you to advance/progress into higher ground

What is the difference between the Logos and the Rhema?

  • The Logos and the Rhema are both Greek language for the Word
  • The Logos is the general Word (truth) of God while the Rhema is the specific Word (instruction) of God
  • The Logos is the written Word (for always) while the Rhema is the spoken word (for now)
  • The Logos of God is Scripture – the girdle of Truth (sound doctrine) while the Rhema of God is instruction – a specific Word to a specific person at a specific time for a specific purpose
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 6:63

What is the relationship between the Logos and the Rhema of God?

  • The Rhema lives within the Logos!
  • The Rhema complements and agrees with the Logos
  • The Rhema serves and corroborates the Logos
  • Jesus Christ is the living Logos and the Holy Spirit is the living Rhema
  • John 1:1-3, 16:13

What is my spiritual shield?

  • Faith!
  • Faith comes by hearing the Rhema of God, Romans 10:17
  • Faith comes by paying attention to the Logos of God until your hear the Rhema of God, Proverbs 4:20-22
  • You resist the devil through the confession of your faith based on what has been written in the Word of Truth (the Logos of God), Matthew 4:4,7,10, Hebrews 10:23, John 17:17
  • You resist the devil by remaining steadfast in faith, 1 Peter 5:8-9

What is my spiritual Sword?

  • The Spirit-wielded Rhema!
  • It is not your duty to wield the Rhema – it is wielded (released) by the Holy Spirit of God
  • It is your duty to cooperate by listening and obeying the Rhema
  • You advance into breakthrough/fruitfulness by obeying the Spirit
  • John 6:63, 1 Corinthians 2:9-12

How can I hear the Rhema of God?

  • Fellowship!
  • Fellowship with the Father through prayer
  • Fellowship with Jesus through the Church, Matthew 18:20
  • Fellowship with the Spirit through meditation and conversation
  • Your fellowship with the Spirit starts with meditation on the Logos (written Word) of God. The Rhema lives within the Logos!
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14
  • The Logos works inwardly in you to produce the Rhema which works outwardly through you, Hebrews 4:12-13
