Title: *|FNAME|*, Which Spirit is Filling You?

Dear *|FNAME|*,

If you truly believe that you were created by God, then you should be certain that God has an assigned purpose for your life and a master plan to fulfil it. Jeremiah 29:11 shows us that God’s plan for you is good and more than sufficient to satisfy all the legitimate longings of your soul. Embracing this worldview simply means that all you need do is to cooperate with God in faith and obedience as He progressively unveils His master plan to you by His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

*|FNAME|*, if ever you are going to fulfil God’s plan for your life, you have to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). However, there are three types of spirit that can dominate believers today: Holy Spirit, demonic spirits and alcohol. Each of these has power to influence and control you. Whatever fills you depends on what you are yielding to and drinking of. Whenever you practise indulgence in the works of the flesh as shown in Galatians 5:19-22, you are opening the door to ungodly spirits which always act to influence your life in the wrong direction.

Literally speaking, alcohol is a spirit! All alcoholic drinks have some percentage of spirit within them (% volume). Is alcohol a good or evil spirit? The answer lies in the characteristics of those who are under its influence! Essentially, alcohol is a drug which dulls your mind and numbs your body. This is how alcohol relaxes you and gives you a feeling of enjoyment. However, the Bible commands all true believers to be sober and alert (1 Peter 5:8). Alcohol belongs to a class of drugs which make it easier for people to do wrong and commit sin. Alcohol has ruined and continues to ruin many lives!

*|FNAME|*, do you desire to move forward spiritually? If so, you must be willing to change some things in your lifestyle. Christians should not copy the world culture; rather we are to show them the excellent way as ‘salt and light’ (Matthew 5:13-16, Romans 12:2). The Bible says that kings (true believers who represent the Kingdom) should not guzzle wine or crave for alcohol (Proverbs 31:4-7). We should not raise up any altar to the false god of alcohol within our homes. Food is essential to the body but alcohol is not. Rather, alcohol is toxic and your body works hard to remove it. Alcohol consumption will certainly reduce your spiritual thirst and compromise your spiritual consecration. Therefore, your victory over alcohol lies in total abstinence.

The Holy Spirit will never prompt you to do anything against the will of God; neither will He force you to do anything against your will. When you are full of the Spirit and yielded to His promptingsHe will influence and empower you to live right and your life with be filled with the spiritual fruit of love, joy and peace (Galatians 5:22-23).

*|FNAME|*, the master key to being continuously filled with the Spirit is maintaining your spiritual thirst, and the key to maintaining your spiritual thirst is abstinence, not indulgence. In order to be filled with the Spirit, you are to come thirsty, ask to be filled, receive by faith, keep drinking (in tongues) and keep yielding to His promptings (John 7:37-39). Jesus promised that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).
