HUMILITY AND OBEDIENCE

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. – Philippians 2:5-7

The mind of Christ is ‘Humility and Obedience’. Jesus left His Heavenly status and came down to earth to live and die as a man. He humbled himself and became obedient unto the Father, even to the point of death. When we embrace an attitude of humility and obedience towards God, we are sure to reap great rewards. And that is why God has highly exalted Jesus Christ as Lord, and given Him the Name that is above every other name. (Hebrews 10:5-7, Isaiah 1:19).

In these last days, many people are addicted to their own way of thinking and doing things. They believe in their right to individuality and personal opinion. They have exalted the god of self and are committed to worshipping it daily. However, this should not be the case with true believers. The Word of God is our guideline and the right attitude is that of submission and obedience to God and His Word. If we approach the things of God with an attitude of arrogance or a sense of entitlement, we will not grow up spiritually, for God resists the proud but gives Grace to the humble. A humble person is ‘willing and obedient’. He is teachable and embraces correction. When we humble ourselves before God, He will lift us up (James 4:6-10).

Prayer: Almighty and Everlasting God, I rededicate myself to You: spirit, soul and body. I embrace the mind of Christ which is ‘humility and obedience’. Help me to be teachable. Help me to be submissive to the Word in Jesus’ Name.
