What is authority?
- Authority is delegated power!
- Authority enables you to get the job done on behalf of the master
- If you undermine godly authority, it will affect your life negatively
- If you honour godly authority, it will affect your life positively
- Matthew 21:42-45
What is the purpose of the Believer’s Authority according to John 14:12-14?
- To do the works of Christ!
- To represent Christ properly in this world
- Jesus will back you up when you act in His Name: as representing all that He is in purpose, plan, character and achievement
- Jesus can only back you up in the works that represent Him well
What is the scope of the Believer’s Authority according to Matthew 18:18?
- Whatever you bind (refuse) on earth will be backed up by Heaven: you can forbid that which does not work righteousness
- Whatever you loose (permit) on earth will be backed up by Heaven: you can release those in the bondage of spiritual darkness
- You can cast out evil spirits, Mark 16:17, Matthew 10:1, 16:23
- You can command devils to give/make way for you, Luke 10:17
- You can command spiritual obstacles to be removed, Mark 11:23
- You can rebuke/break the power/influence of evil in your domain
- You can rebuke/break the power of sickness/disease in your domain
How does authority work?
- Authority works by faith and boldness!
- Faith is assurance and conviction, Hebrews 11:1, ESV
- Boldness involves speaking out, taking action and standing firm. If you keep quiet or shrink back (cower, cringe), you will not get the job done
- Authority works by submission to God’s Word!
- Submission to God is the solid foundation for resisting the devil
- Hebrews 10:38-39, James 4:7
