What is supplication?
- An intense appeal to the mercy and/or justice of God
- Mark 10:46-52, Hebrews 5:5-9, Luke 18:1-8
When should I make supplication?
- When difficult needs or circumstances arise beyond your level of faith
- When your faith relationship is not enough to get the job done
- When the situation is critical or hopeless
- When nothing is working
- Philippians 4:6, 1 Kings 18:41-46, Luke 11:5-8
What are the principles of supplication?
- Boldness (conviction of the genuineness of your need in line with God’s Word), Hebrews 4:16
- Humility, James 4:6-10
- Fervency (strong desire, strong crying, determination, focus, intensity), James 5:16
- Persistence, Luke 11:8, 18:4-5
- Self-denial, 2 Samuel 12:16-23. Note: Fasting (abstinence, modesty and moderation) enhances supplication
