STRENGTH FOR THE BATTLE

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness. – Ephesians 6:13-14

The Bible exhorts us to put on the whole armour of God, not just a part. This is because your adversary (the devil) is full of many dirty tricks which he uses to attack you and to catch you off-guard (Ephesians 6:11). The foundational element of the armour of God is Truth. What is Truth? John 17:17 says: Sanctify them by your Truth. Your Word is Truth. The Word of God implanted in your spirit will always give you strength for the battle. Don’t build your life on facts; build it on the principles of the Word of God. Facts can mislead you! Facts can keep you in bondage to the lies of Satan (who is the father of lies). Facts are not sufficient to save you in the evil day. In contrast, the truth you know and act upon will always set you free. You need the belt of truth in your life, for truth is what holds you firm and solid in the midst of an evil generation (John 8:44, 31-32).

For example, facts may teach you to dishonour your divinely-appointed leaders. Facts may say that ‘everybody is equal’, ‘it’s a free world’, ‘you have the right to talk and do as you like’, etc. But what does the Word say? ‘Submit to your husband’, ‘Honour your parents’, ‘Obey your spiritual leaders’ etc. Victory will be yours as you yield to the truth of the Word (Ephesians 5:22, 6:2, Hebrews 13:7).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the divine truths revealed to me in Your Word. I choose to live victoriously in life by guarding myself with truth. Help me to live my life based on truth, rather than worldly facts, in Jesus’ Name.
