Springs Newsletter 2017 (13)

Life is not balanced but God is faithful! You were never called to go it alone or make it by your own power. If you would keep walking with God in faith and obedience, you will certainly overcome all the forces of darkness that wage war against your soul (1 John 5:4).

Have you ever wondered why people refrain from sowing good seeds (and end up sowing evil seeds) despite knowing that sowing is the key to reapingIt is because of the waiting time involved! People seek quick-fix solutions rather than going through the process of consistently sowing good seeds that will revolutionise their lives in the right direction (Galatians 6:7-9).

Are you investing your seeds (time, talents and money) into the good soil of the Kingdom or are you living selfishly? Are you sowing the good seeds of ‘faith, hope and love’ into your future? Sowing requires humility, consistency and perseverance! You must never become weary in doing what is right and good, for those who sow in tears shall reap in joy (Psalm 126:5-6).

Humility is a major key to spiritual advancement. James 4:6 tells us that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Have you become proud in your dealings with God and people? Are you over-confident in who you are and what you have? Are you teachable and correctable or are you full of ego, independence, self-righteousness and attitude?

When you are filled with the Spirit, you become empowered to live like Jesus and be a powerful witness for Him in this broken world. However, being filled with the Spirit is not a one-off event. Rather, it is a life-long continuous process of drinking and yielding to the Spirit. This is because you are constantly being drained by ‘the world, the flesh and the devil’.

Speaking in tongues is not the only evidence of being filled. There are many believers who speak in tongues but then go on to execute multiple works of the flesh daily. Jesus said that it is by their fruit that we shall know themAre you bearing the fruit of the Spirit? (Galatians 5:16-26).

According to Ephesians 5:18-21, the evidence of being filled with the Spiritincludes speaking (singing, praying and prophesying) in tongues, a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving, and a submissive attitude in the fear of God.
